Given the current state of the SJs I am surprised that you have posted such a piece. In a word...thanks. Basically what we are seeing is a color revolution being implemented to destabilize the US AND to cover up the fraud that the Left has inflicted upon the good people of this country. Finally, as an aside, are there other Jesuits such as yourself within the order? Pax

Yes, there are. My friend Fr. Robert Spitzer, S.J. calls them "CTs" (Clear Thinkers). Thanks be to God there are many.

Gotta be candid Padre but the ranks of the Jesuits have been decimated by the current Jesuit administration. They have become SJWs as opposed to defending the faith AND dare I say too many homosexuals have entered the ranks. I know personally as I am Jesuit educated and have witnessed the transition (that started in the 70s). I love the traditional Jesuit ethos but have no use for the current lot. I pray for priests like you and others who hold onto what St. Ignatius of Loyola founded. Pax

Roger,

For insight into clear thinking Jesuits I highly recommend acquiring Fr. Fessio's biography, by Fr. Michael Buckley: "California Blackrobe"

Maybe this is what happens when people perceive law enforcers as nefarious and not as what they’re supposed to be? How and why did this segment of the population lose their trust in the government?

Your source speculates about someone controlling them from somewhere. Doesn’t this observation stretch his counterterrorist paradigm? Who controls them and from where? When? How and why? This is important to know.

I agree that we all must do a lot of soul searching but as long as your source leaves these questions hanging, his observations aren’t a dispassionate description of ground facts, but opinions too.

I agree that the author expresses his opinion; however, I posted what he wrote because of his comparison of his experience of insurgencies with what is happening in Minnesota. I found that helpful information from someone with the relevant experience.

Father, I was in the military too. I’m a war veteran myself. Also a student of history. I’ve observed we all tend to fight our last war, engulfing what we see into old paradigms that may or may not apply, in whole or in part.

I wouldn’t take your source’s explanation as a comprehensive, strategic view of what’s taking place in Minnesota, but just as an individual report whose source wants both to inform and influence the reader.

Take his report and interpretation as just another datapoint, not the entire picture.

You were actually in the military and don't recognize a color revolution before you? This is a coordinated effort by evil forces within the US and overseas (think Soros, Britain, the EU and Muslim Brotherhood) who want our Republic dead. Wise up.

Yes, I’m retired military. It’s there where I learned to think rationally because lives were on the line. Thinking logically was a job requirement. That’s why I disregard conspiracy theories such as the one you propose.

Fraud and deception and a governing philosophy that seems to believe that the end point to any problem is the amount of money spent to solve it (crime, education, poverty, etc.). It’s almost as if there is a push to raise the national debt and create enough chaos needed to declare democracy a failure in order to replace it with “something else “.

He seems to forget that he's talking about American citizens who have First and Second Amendment rights, the very people that law enforcement officers are sworn to protect. That's the key difference. Don't turn this into some kind of war on the government's own constituents.

Fr. Joseph Fessio, S.J.'s avatar

Organized resistance to officers of the law does not deprive one of 1st and 2nd Amendment rights, but it does make one subject to arrest. Resisting arrest while carrying a firearm is both foolish and dangerous.

While it seems we're approaching our judgement of DHS's actions from different perspectives, I do just want to say, Father, what an honor it is to be dialoguing with you. Your work with Ignatius Press has been life-changing for me and the countless others. God bless you.

Amen!

It is surreal!

Thank you Father!

Is there any evidence whatsoever that Pretti resisted arrest?

Kevin Mauer's avatar

Unfortunately, this case will never go to trial because of Supremacy Clause immunity. However, the public can see the reality pretty clearly from the available video evidence, the administration's knee-jerk reactions notwithstanding.

Fr. Joseph Fessio, S.J.'s avatar

Lots of knees were jerking.
